According to the India Skills Report 2019, only 47% of youth entering the workforce every year are considered employable or job-ready.
Owing to their impoverished circumstances many youths in India don’t have the basic skills that employers expect of them. This makes it unlikely for them to find stable employment.
Where we come in?
We help these youth from marginalized backgrounds prepare for the workplace through training programmes focused on English speaking skills, computers, grooming, and soft skills like time management. They are also exposed to real-life jobs through exposure visits and mock interviews. The students are provided with uniforms to prepare them for the level of professionalism expected at the workplace.
How can you be a part of this story of change?
This Daan Utsav, you have the chance to be part of this story by contributing funds for the education kits.
At the start of the programme, we give every student an education kit that serves as an equalizer so all the students are using the same material and dressing irrespective of their background. The kit includes:
1. A bag: Provided to students to carry books and also as an equalizer to ensure a sense of belonging with the programme.
2. Learning material: 5 workbooks for Basic English, Workplace Readiness, Life Skills, Customer Relationship & Retail Sales and Career guidance
3. Uniform: Preparation for dress code expectations at certain jobs, especially for women who may find it difficult to wear a shirt and trousers due to family restrictions.
4. Stationery: Basic stationery that students might require during the course which includes a dictionary and a student ID.
Each education kit costs us 900 INR and we’re raising 9 Lakhs for 1000 students.
Contribute to our campaign and help these bright young individuals embark on their journey towards meaningful employment!
Who are we?
We dream of a world with equal employment opportunities for all. Our programmes are aimed at equipping youth with skills they need to succeed in the real world.
One aspect of the programme works with adolescents between the ages of 13-17 to help identify interests, skills, talent and start thinking about future career prospects. We have worked with 16 low-income private schools and 47 communities across Mumbai and Thane.
The second part of the programme prepares youth for the workplace through a 3-month course at our youth development training centres. We currently have 12 centres running in Mumbai.
Over the last decade, we have been able to impact the lives of 11286 adolescents and 6090 youth. Our team continues to work towards the dream of equal employment opportunities.
Come, join hands, and help make this dream a reality!
